Saturday
With a dry day and even the sign of some sunshine, all the MickelMotorsport Drivers were looking forward to driving at one of their favouritetracks.
Practice
The three Mickel Motorsport cars completed practice. John gave histeam feedback in the pits that he didn’t think the car seemed quickbut as soon as the lap times were released, John realised that he was in top shapeputting in the fastest lap time.
Race 1
The first grid of the weekend was formed following the driversmeeting where John drew eighth row. His Keston/RSCapp car fought through the pack veryquickly but on Graham Hill bend, mid-way through the race, the 29 car spun and the carkicked backwards colliding with John hitting the front bumper ofJohn’s number 4 car, pushing the bumper against the front wheelwhich made the car very hard to drive. John limped home in17th place.
Â
Race 2
With a reversed grid, John started on row four. All the drivers hada super race with a continuing change of positions all the time. John took the lead inthe number 4 Keston/RSCapp car with one lap to go and firmly held on to it to take thewin. Eliot brought the number 41 RSCapp/MTS legend home to secure a top ten place ineighth with Jack finishing a, well deserved, tenth.
Â
Race 3
John started race three towards the rear of the field. It was aclean race and he continued to chase down the leader but with a spread out field he ranout of laps to pass the leader and finished in second place which put him fourthoverall on the day. Eliot had another great race in his RSCapp/MTS Legend finishing insixth pace but Jack was suffering from misfire gremlins but still finished seventeenthout of twenty two finishers.
Â
Sunday
Everyone woke to a drearier whether forecast on Sunday which meantthat the track was damp for racing. Would this prove to produce morecrashes?
RSCapp were the official sponsors for the final round in the 2011Legends Championship and they had an arsenal of trophies to award for various differentachievements to the drivers throughout the day.
Race 1
John started from row four. He got a good start but early into racethere was a crash going into Druids and two cars spun forcing John onto the grass toavoid contact. He lost many positions but like a Pit-bull he never gave up, fightinghard to get back into the race. His Keston/RSCapp car gained four places in the closinglaps to bring the number 4 car home in fifth place and also clinching the fastest laptime. Eliot was consistently gaining top ten places, finishing in eighth with Jack insixteenth.
Â
Race 2
John started on row 7. There was no disappointment for the fansthat like a good crash as, on lap one on the approach to the famous Graham Hill Bend, there was a coming together between Jess Gwynne and Nathan Anthony putting a stop tothe race. The grid reformed without these two drivers.  Therest of the race was clean but the leader got so far in front of the field that thechasing pack was unable to catch him. There was however a lot of action in this chasingpack with John and Eliot working well together. Eliot brought the RSCapp/MTS car homein a very well deserved third place with John very closely behind in fourth. Jackfinished in eighteenth.
Â
Race 3
John started the last race of the year at the rear of the field. The race was shortened to six laps from ten due to the darkness descending upon thetrack.  John was determined to finish the season on a high notemaking it to the front of the field in just a few laps, leaving him just enough time tobattle with the leaders right up to the very end. With the bit between his teeth hepowered over the finish line in first place. This put him 2ndoverall on theday. Eliot put in another consistant top ten finish in 7th placewith Jack bringing home his Keston/Hollybush car in eighteenth. Even though this wasnot one of Jack’s better weekends, he secured a very well deservedsecond place in the Rookie Championship proving what a level headed and committedsixteen year old he is.
Â
The overall Championship saw John finish fourth, with Eliot insixth place for 2011.
